This is one of three organic (“marché bio” or “agriculture biologique“) markets in Paris, and the best known of them all.

Only on Sundays, the Raspail Market hosts all-organic fare. On its two other days (Tuesdays and Fridays), the same space is devoted to a regular market. Prices are significantly higher for organic goods, but many Parisian residents and tourists who flock here, feel that the organic label is worth it.

Other markets in Paris typically have one or two agriculture biologique stands, which are announced on colorful bunting, but at the Sunday Raspail market every vendor is selling organic or otherwise environmentally friendly items such as soaps, naturally dyed fabrics, etc.

For a tasty treat, don’t miss the galette de pomme de terre (potato pancake) made fresh and served hot by Les Gallatins at the market’s far end by rue du Cherche-Midi.
