This is not the best-known flea market in Paris, but it ranks as one of the best flea markets of Paris. It’s right at the top of my personal fave list, anyway. When I lived in Paris to work on Markets of Paris, it was the second market that I visited within days of my arrival (the first being the food market on boulevard Raspail, more on that later). This flea market is open Saturdays & Sundays. Savvy shoppers go first thing in the morning to scoop up treasures. But even if you sleep in, or linger over a morning croissant, there’ll still be plenty to pick through during an afternoon outing. Located in the 14th arrondissement, the Portes de Vanves flea market is easy to reach by Métro (there’s a Porte de Vanves stop). Some items I’ve picked up there? A set of cheese knives with inlaid ebony (in their original box with velvet cushioning), a cream pitcher, a sterling silver soup ladle, and a handful of colorful buttons.

How could I pass up a nickel-plated Art Deco lamp?! Now, where to place it .Thanks for saihrng that you picked up display techniques from me. I’m delighted to hear it. Would love to see a recent photo of one of your vignettes!

  2. This is my hands-down favorite Paris flea market. So much fun and conviviality, and not overwhelming in size. I feel at home here, and became quite a regular.

After 27 trips to Paris, this is our hands-down favorite! A plethora of smalls, art, and don’t forget the Brie sandwich!
